Dr. Ruth Carden (she/her)

Dr. Carden is a primary and specialty care physician who sees patients across a wide range of conditions and life experiences. She believes strongly in the importance of listening to the patient and values the wisdom people have about their own bodies and health. Dr Carden especially enjoys helping patients with issues related to metabolic, endocrine and gynecologic conditions, pelvic care, mental health and GI conditions.

Dr. Carden incorporates both gentle and pragmatic treatment modalities. These include everything from but are not limited to: hands-on therapies, herbal medicine, nutrition, supplements, flower essences and medications, as appropriate. She is a leader in herbal naturopathic care, with extensive training in botanical medicine, including many years of formal clinical herbalism studies prior to medical school.

Before studying medicine, Dr. Carden was involved in her community as a social worker and brings this lens to her work. Her care is compassionate and trauma-informed, with a whole-system, whole-person approach. She delights in working with people of diverse backgrounds, including those with international ties or roots, having spent many of her formative years in another country. Another value of Dr. Carden’s is for her care to be accessible and comfortable to all people across the gender spectrum.
