Dr. Matthew Knudsen, ND is a licensed naturopathic physician in Oregon providing comprehensive primary care for adults and families across the lifespan. He earned his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Prior to his medical training, Dr. Knudsen completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with an emphasis on cellular signal transduction at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Dr. Knudsen completed his postgraduate residency at the National University of Natural Medicine, where he further developed his skills in comprehensive evaluation, clinical decision-making, and longitudinal patient care.
Dr. Knudsen practices with a patient-centered, evidence-informed approach, integrating the strengths of conventional medicine with naturopathic therapies to deliver thorough, individualized care. As a primary care provider, he manages both acute and chronic conditions, coordinates care when specialty referral is needed, and emphasizes prevention and long-term health outcomes. His approach includes careful listening, comprehensive evaluation, and evidence-informed treatment planning, helping patients understand their health and participate actively in their care. He values long-term patient relationships and continuity of care, supporting patients through different stages of health and life.
His clinical interests include primary care, cardiopulmonary health, women’s health, gastrointestinal health, sleep medicine, weight management, mental health, clinical nutrition, addiction medicine, men’s health, and acute care. He commonly works with concerns related to cardiometabolic health, sleep, gastrointestinal issues, hormonal and sexual health, weight management, mood and stress-related conditions, and preventive care. His background in clinical nutrition informs a practical, evidence-based approach to metabolic health, cardiovascular risk reduction, and overall wellness.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Knudsen enjoys playing guitar, pickleball, and cooking, as well as spending time outdoors exploring Oregon with his wife and four children.
